Nelson Mandela Gala

19 August 2014

Earlier last month, Matching Models was proud to sponsor an exclusive event that took place in the Camden Roundhouse. Alongside various other organisations, we helped host a special Nelson Mandela Gala to raise money for the Blue Sky Village Anti-Poverty Project, of which our CEO Nathalie Jansen is an advisor to.

Blue Sky Villages is an organisation run by Nic Careem that aims to help alleviate poverty in the African region through building low-cost sustainable housing. See more about their initiative here and here.

Hosting a plentiful of well-esteemed guests, talented artists and musicians - Nelson Remembered celebrated the great cause and a man who undeniably changed the course of humanity.

The night began with a champagne reception that got our guests buzzing whilst soft Caribbean music set the mood and the crowd gathered inside. Special guests included Gospel star Sandley Godley and former Miss Great Britain and Top Gear Presenter, Kate Hallam and who recently spoke about the event.

Talk and speeches made by Blue Sky Village Founder, Nic Careem accompanied the gourmet meal prepared by caterer Moving Venue while a silent charity auction took place. Football jerseys, signed memorabilia and art relics were all up for sale.

Later on, special performers came together to grace the stage. Jermain Jackman from reality television singing competition The Voice, Heather Small and the infamous Paul Young all sang that evening. The party portion also involved a more eclectic line up with a ballet performance by classical dancer Fernando Montano, Rwandan popstar Kitoko and more.

Big thank you to our girls Anisa, Fanta, Samantha, Steph, Audrey, Jordan, Ariana, Lynette, Rebecca & the team for all their hard work that evening!

Nelson Mandela was a 20th Century hero, a man revered around the world for his compassion, humanity and vision. The Mandela Remembered Gala Dinner at the iconic Roundhouse will be an opportunity to celebrate his life, while at the same time raise funds to continue with his mission to end extreme poverty.” - Nic Careem, Blue Sky Villages
